Opening Up Compact Spaces

reimagining Light and Space

With so much of the existing housing stock in this country being terraced homes, a recurring goal that our clients bring to us is that of opening up compact spaces. Current lifestyles demand flexibility. As architects, we tease out the potential to modify this older housing stock into spaces that work for modern day people.

This project saw the internal and external redecoration of a compact three bedroom, three-storey mid terrace period property, including new services, windows and patio sliding doors.

By reclaiming an existing light well, we brought light to the lower ground floor kitchen. Pocket doors and clever storage solutions conceal the usual clutter or a WC and utility area. New sliding doors open the rear of the property to an existing terrace and flood the interior with much-needed light. Bespoke joinery with clean lines throughout elevates the house to the bright and comfortable home our clients were dreaming of. A contemporary ensuite to the master bedroom rounds out the renovation.

Key features :

  • Contemporary style choices

  • Clever storage joinery and space saving tactics

  • Natural lighting reaching throughout the house.
